Effective March 31, 2007 - Stephens, McCarthy, Lancaster,
LLC is appointed the manufacturers representative for CTC (Composite
Technology Corp.)
CTC (Composite Technology
Corporation,) an industry leader in composite technology, designs,
manufacturers and markets a diversified line of products that solve many of
the power industry problems today. Our products range from composite core
utility cable to a wide range of composite structures for the utility,
municipality and industrial markets.

The CTC
Advantage
ACCC
power transmission and distribution cable benefit
summary:
 |
Doubles the current carrying capacity over
conventional ACSR - Reconductor
existing pathways without structural
modifications |
 |
Virtually eliminates problematic
high-temperature sag |
 |
Uses
conventional installation methods, tools, and
hardware - No special tools
or training |
 |
Reduces construction costs by using fewer
support structures |
 |
Resists environmental degradation - Will not
rust, corrode, or cause electrolysis
with aluminum conductors or components |
 |
Higher operating efficiency can help decrease
power generation costs and help
meet emission standards |
Growing energy demand and an aging electricity
infrastructure underscore the urgent need for new and
upgraded transmission lines. Sagging and over-utilized
power lines are increasingly becoming bottlenecks for
electrical distribution systems. Despite catastrophic
system failures and seasonal symptoms such as rolling
brownouts, efforts to expand or improve transmission
systems invariably stall due to the limited options
available to utilities and government. With the power
grid load up 35% in the last decade and only an 18%
growth in grid capacity (source: EPRI), utility industry
problems are going to continue to multiply.
With few technological improvements being introduced
since transmission and distribution lines began
appearing in the late 1800’s, the utility industry has
historically had few options other than to build new
transmission “pathways” to meet growing market demand.
Given broad consumer resistance, the high costs, and
nearly impossible environmental restrictions of
constructing new transmission lines, utilities have been
looking for ways to stretch their existing systems with
minimal capital investments.
Composite Technology Corporation is committed to
assisting utilities and government achieve significant
improvements in power grid capacity and reliability.
Through our advanced cable manufacturing technology, our
ACCC (Aluminum Conductor Composite Core) cable can
double the current carrying capacity over existing
transmission and distribution cable and can dramatically
increase system reliability by virtually eliminating
high-temperature sag. Its higher strength can
significantly reduce new construction costs by allowing
greater spans between support structures, thereby
reducing the number
of structures by as much as 16% or more.

Stephens, McCarthy, Lancaster
LLC is a Manufacturers Representative with headquarters in Petaluma,
California. SML specializes in representing manufacturers who make products
and solutions for the electrical utility industry. SML has been in business
since 1995 and they cover a large portion of the western United States;
Northern CA, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and
Utah. SML has six outside salesmen strategically located in areas that
allow them to provide excellent coverage to electric utilities.
Upon signing the contract Chris
Stephens was quoted as saying “The unique high ampacity, low sag conductors
offered by CTC will provide the utilities in our area with a key component
in keeping up with growth, this is a solution that offers a very reliable
technology with a solid performance history at an extremely attractive total
installed cost”.
Glenn Lancaster followed up by
stating “Our partnership with CTC allows us to provide a total transmission
package for an electric utility, we can help the designer engineers with
towers, conductor, insulators, hardware, fittings and communications. This
is unique in our service area and we feel very privileged to represent CTC”.
