Stephens, McCarthy, Lancaster, LLC (SML) was started in May of 1995 in the San Francisco, California Bay area. The firm consists of three partners Chris Stephens, Kevin McCarthy, and Glenn Lancaster. 

The company's focus is on direct sales to the electric utility customers, but also on contractors, consultants, packagers, and distributors. The product scope centers on those products applicable to substation, transmission, distribution, and communications products. Geographically, Stephens, McCarthy, Lancaster, LLC serves the electric utility customers in Alaska, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
